If you’d like to be notified when your PocketSmith subscription is due, this is easy to set up using a Bill budget and our bill reminder feature.
Create a Bill budget for your PocketSmith subscription
For a budget to be included in a bill reminder email or bill reminder widget, the category must be set to a bill category. This can be done by ticking the ‘This is a bill’ option when creating a budget for the category.
If you already have a budget set up for your PocketSmith subscription, you can instead update the category to be a Bill category.
To create a new bill budget for your PocketSmith subscription
- Head to the Budget page
- Navigate to your PocketSmith subscription category and click Start, or click + Start new in the toolbar to create a new category
- Fill in the budget details, such as amount, repeat frequency, and select the account you’d like the budget to be assigned to.
- Tick ‘This is a bill’
- Click SAVE
- A modal will appear confirming that you are updating the category to be a Bill or scheduled income category. Click CONFIRM CHANGES

Edit an existing category to be a bill category
- Head to the Categories page (Manage > Categories)
- Navigate to the category you'd like to change to a bill category, click on the three-dot menu and select Edit
- In the sidebar, select Category options
- Tick the check-box This is a bill or This is a scheduled income category, then SAVE
- If you'd like, you can add a '*grace period' before a bill shows as overdue in your Bill reminder widget or Bill reminder emails. Just enter the desired number of days, as shown in the below screenshot. This is useful if the actual bill payment date can fluctuate, due to weekends or transactions taking a few days to appear in your bank account. During this period, the bill will show as upcoming*

Tip
We recommend that you set up only one recurring budget per unique category, as this provides the most accurate and clear analysis.
If you have multiple subscriptions you want to budget for, you can use parent and sub-categories to manage them, with one budget per sub-category.For more on this, see: Why we don't recommend having multiple concurrent budgets per category
Set up Bill reminder emails
To receive an email reminder of when your PocketSmith subscription is due, you can set up bill reminder emails.
The reminder emails include any category set up as a bill category with a current budget. They show overdue, paid, and upcoming bills. The upcoming bills section will show any bill budgets through to the end of the following month.
Steps to schedule bill reminder emails
- To schedule bill reminder emails, head to Profile menu > User preferences
- Select Email notifications in the left menu
- In the Bill reminders section, choose a time and the day(s) of the week that you want the bill reminder emails sent and click Save
You will now receive bill reminder emails in your inbox based on your selected time and chosen days 📩
For example, I can see that this coming week, my PocketSmith subscription is due in five days:
