Consumer Data Right (CDR) in Australia

Learn about the Consumer Data Right (CDR) in Australia.

The Consumer Data Right (CDR) is the regulation and legislative framework for consumer data portability in Australia, most prominently banking data, which is called open banking.

Open banking allows you to securely share selected banking information, such as account balances or transaction history, with trusted financial services like PocketSmith.

All banks in Australia participate in the CDR. Some institutions, including specialist home loan providers and non-bank lenders (such as American Express) are not yet in scope of the CDR, but we likely support them through other access methods.

PocketSmith supports feeds through the CDR with two data providers: Mastercard and Basiq. Mastercard powers feeds created from August 2026.

CDR troubleshooting

Sharing joint accounts

Joint accounts should be available to share, unless an owner has opted out of data sharing.

If you find that your bank isn't showing an account to share that you expect, please check the rectification schedule for your bank to see if the problem is listed there, along with a timeframe for the bank to fix it. If not, we'd recommend getting in touch with your bank to enquire why they are not available for you to share.

Sharing business and trust accounts

In general, business and trust accounts should be available to share, but may require you to contact your bank and ask that they enable sharing.

If you have business or trust bank accounts that you expect to be able to share, please contact your bank and ask that the bank enable CDR data sharing for the accounts which are missing. If they are not able to do so, please get in touch and we can escalate it.

Super accounts may not be available

If you hold your superannuation with a mainstream bank, you may find it available to share under CDR open banking.

Dedicated superannuation providers are not currently in scope of the CDR, so you may not find a feed for them via CDR providers. We likely support them through a different access method, so we would encourage you to still search for it in PocketSmith.

CDR rectification schedule

The rectification schedule is a page maintained by the Australian government, which lists implementation gaps for banks that are currently non-compliant with the CDR rules, for example they may not be allowing sharing of account types that they are required to. This can be used as a reference to see if an issue you are experiencing is known about, and when to expect resolution
