Additional charge on your credit card
You may see an additional charge on your credit card statement alongside the value of your PocketSmith subscription. This will usually show as a $1/£1 transaction.
This is just a temporary charge called an Authorization Hold -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authorization_hold. This is a standard procedure performed by our merchant provider to ensure that the card is valid and will accept charges, without ever actually taking the funds.
This will be removed in a few days and ultimately you won't be charged for that!
Error messages and reasons why a payment might not process
❌ 'Refer to card issuer' or 'Do not honor' error
Because PocketSmith is based in New Zealand, some credit card providers based outside of New Zealand will restrict payment and return an error message when trying to process your payment. Their restrictions may range from preventing a purchase entirely or limiting a purchase to no more than $20 in value.
Resolution: call the bank who issues your card to explain your purchase, and they'll allow the payment to proceed.
❌ Temporary credit card block
If you attempt to re-enter the same card details multiple times within a 24 hour period, a temporary block will be placed on your credit card by our system. This is a security measure we need to take in order to prevent fraudulent activity.
If this block is put on your account, you'll see the following message:
"It looks like this card has already recently been used to purchase a PocketSmith subscription. Please contact support for assistance."
Currency information for billing
PocketSmith subscriptions are charged in:
- NZD for users in New Zealand
- AUD for users in Australia
- GBP for users in the United Kingdom
- USD for users in the United States of America and the rest of the world
As PocketSmith is based in New Zealand, on occasion, some credit card providers may charge an international transaction fee. This fee is typically around 3% of the transaction value. Banks usually list these fees in the Terms and Conditions for your credit card, which you can find on their website.
