Subscribing via the App Store vs directly with PocketSmith

You may notice that the subscription options shown in the iOS app and App Store differ from those shown on our Plans and pricing page or within PocketSmith's web app 🔍

Where possible, we recommend signing up via PocketSmith directly rather than the App Store. Read on to learn more about the differences in plans and what to do if you've already signed up via the App Store.

Why pricing and plans are different in the App store iOS app and PocketSmith's web app

In 2023, we released new and improved subscription plans; however, we were not able to update the subscription options within the mobile app.

This means that plans available within the mobile app, via the App Store, are our legacy options, with the Premium plan capped at 10 accounts. Our current Foundation plan offers unlimited accounts, with automated feeds for up to 6 different banks from one country. For more on our current subscription options, see: Plans and pricing

We recommend signing up for a paid subscription directly via PocketSmith's web app so that you have the most up-to-date plans. We also suggest this because we're unable to view or make any changes to your plan or refund any subscriptions purchased via the Apple Store.

Cancel your subscription via the App store

We're not able to make any changes to plans or refund subscription payments billed through the App Store, as these are managed directly by Apple and not by us at PocketSmith.

You can cancel your subscription via Apple from your phone within the App Store. To do this, follow the steps outlined here: Cancel a subscription from Apple.

Note

If you'd like to sign up with PocketSmith directly, you'll need to:

  • Cancel your subscription with the App Store
  • Then, you'll need to wait until the end of the subscription period paid for with Apple until you can subscribe directly with us.

Apply for a refund from the App Store

If you subscribed via the App Store and would like your subscription refunded, you'll need to contact Apple to do this.

Apple has a handy guide with the details: Request a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple. Note that it may take 24 to 48 hours for the App Store to approve a refund request.

Subscribe directly to PocketSmith

You can subscribe directly to PocketSmith from within our web app! See the following guides for all the details:

Note

If you have cancelled your plan via the App Store, you'll need to wait until the end of your already paid-for subscription period before you can subscribe to PocketSmith directly.

For example, if you signed up for a monthly plan via the App Store that was due to renew on August 1st, and then cancelled this, you'd need to wait until August 1st to switch plans or subscribe directly via PocketSmith.

You will still have access to the paid features of the plan you initially subscribed to during this time.
