There's also a risk that AI tools will hallucinate answers. They can confidently give incorrect or misleading information, which can ultimately lead you in circles and cause frustration.

Learn Centre AI Assistant
If you just want to quickly understand how things work, the best option is to use the AI Assistant in the Learn Centre. This is trained on the Learn Centre guides and with prompts to provide good information. This can also be accessed via the help menu in PocketSmith.
While these answers, like any AI, may not be 100% correct, you'll find they're more accurate than external AI tools.

If using an external AI tool, there are ways to set it up and use it to provide better information and advice, as shown below.
Set up a custom prompt for your AI tool
If you want to do this in your own external AI chat tool, you should add a custom prompt or set up a project or folder with one to provide more accurate information.

Use your own PocketSmith data with AI tools
Use the PocketSmith MCP server to connect your PocketSmith account to any AI assistant that supports the Model Context Protocol.
PocketSmith has an official MCP server, so you can connect your favourite AI tools to your PocketSmith account. You can either allow read-only access so that only financial insights and data can be retrieved, or give it full access to also make changes to your PocketSmith - including adding attachments, categorising transactions, and much more.

In time, this’ll be available as an “app” on more restrictive platforms like ChatGPT, but for now it’s ready to go for the more technically minded.
