Why this error can occur
When connecting to your bank via Akahu, you might receive an error stating, "These [INSTITUTION NAME] credentials have already been connected to Akahu using the email address [EMAIL]".
This error means that you need to remove the connection currently stored with Akahu so that you can use those credentials again.
This could be due to an old connection, created with the same email address you are using, still being stored in Akahu’s MyAkahu
In this guide, we provide instructions for revoking the connection (removing the credentials) with Akahu.
Option 1: Reauthorise the feed, then revoke the existing connection
First, reauthorise the feed:
- Go to the Feeds page
- Select the feed from the Sidebar
- In the Authorize tab, click Authorize or Reauthorize
- Click Continue
- Verify that the email you initially used with Akahu is correct, then click Continue. If the email associated with Akahu is incorrect, click Use a different email address.
- If prompted, enter the OTP code sent by email.
Then, revoke the existing connection:
- From the connections list, select the connection you would like to remove.
- Click Revoke connection
- Select Yes, I'm sure
- Select Save Connections
- Once the connection is revoked, reauthorise the feed and, if the issue persists, let us know by submitting a Feed help request
Option 2: Remove the connection directly from Akahu
- Head to my.akahu.io and sign in
- From the ☰ menu, select Apps
- From My Apps, select PocketSmith
- Under Connections, select the institution you'd like to remove
- Click Disconnect
- Once you have disconnected the feed, head back to the Feeds page and reauthorise the feed. If the issue persists, let us know by submitting a Feed help request
