Backup and restore your PocketSmith data

Our backup and restore feature allows you to back up all your transaction information into a CSV file, which you can then use to restore your transaction and account data into PocketSmith.

The backup CSV file can then be used to restore your categorised transaction history, account names, labels, notes and balances.

If you want to export specific transactions, follow this guide instead: Exporting your transactions.

Important

The backup file does not contain:

  • Files attached to your transactions
  • Your budgets

Exporting your transaction data

First, you'll need to export the data from your PocketSmith account by heading to Transaction backup and restore (Manage > Transaction backup and restore)

Then, select DOWNLOAD YOUR BACKUP.

Now, you've downloaded your data into a CSV file.

Warning

We strongly recommend not editing or saving this file in Excel, as this may make the file incompatible with PocketSmith when trying to restore the backup file..

Importing your transaction data

To import the data into a PocketSmith account, you'll need to log into the PocketSmith account that you want to import the data into.

Head to Transaction backup and restore again, and upload the CSV file downloaded from your PocketSmith account by either dragging and dropping your file into this sectio or clicking Choose file and selecting the file on your computer.
