What to do if you are not receiving emails from PocketSmith

If you are not receiving password reset or other emails from PocketSmith, this may be due to the emails being blocked by your email provider or being sent to the spam folder.

To prevent the emails from being blocked or placed in the spam folder, you should add the email address [email protected] to your contacts list. The instructions for adding an email to the contact list for the main email providers are below.

Once you have added the address to your contacts list, try having the email sent again.

Why is my Digest email not up to date?

If your weekly Digest email is showing that your account has had no recent activity, this could be due to one of the following situations:

  • No bank accounts added to PocketSmith
  • Accounts not updating due to being listed as using multi-factor authentication (MFA)
  • Accounts not updating due to not logging in frequently enough
  • An error on your bank feed

No bank accounts added to PocketSmith

If you haven't yet added your bank accounts to PocketSmith, you can learn how to do this here: Adding a bank feed and connecting your accounts

Accounts not updating due to being listed as using multi-factor authentication (MFA)

Bank feeds in PocketSmith are updated according to an automatic syncing schedule however, it's important to note that only bank feeds that are not listed as using MFA can be automatically updated.

If your bank feed is listed as using MFA, this means that you'll need to login in order for your bank account to sync and the most recent transactions to be imported and included in the weekly Digest emails.

However, if you know you're not asked for additional security information when you log in, you can force your bank feed to sync automatically. You can learn more about this here: Multi-factor authentication (MFA) on bank feeds

Accounts not updating due to not logging in frequently enough

When the digest emails are sent out each Monday, the transaction information that they contain reflects the activity that has occurred within your PocketSmith account over the previous week.

Transactions are pulled into your account via the bank feeds. However, the rate at which these are updated depends on how often you use PocketSmith. For example, if you log in to PocketSmith every day, your bank feeds will sync every 6 hours or so, whereas if you only log in once a week, they may only refresh once every 3 days.

The length of time between updates increases the longer it has been since the PocketSmith account was accessed. For example, if you've not logged in not for more than 4 weeks PocketSmith will only update transaction data every 20 days or so. If inactivity is between 2 - 4 weeks it will be updated fortnightly.

In theory, this means you never have to log in and your data will always be continuous, but data will only be pulled into your account roughly every 20-days, or when you next log in. Because the digest emails are weekly, they may appear empty if they are sent out in between updates.

In order for the digest emails to be current, it's best to log in at least every 14 days

An error on your bank feed

If no recent data is showing in your digest email, then it may be that there is an error on your bank feed. If you do notice an error when logging into your account, please see Troubleshooting bank feed errors for detail on how to best resolve the issue.
